The beginning: I love Richard Wright Library https://meredithetc.com/richard-wright-library/. Originally, a group of citizens attempted to create the first ever Friends of the Richard Wright Library in South Jackson. Friends Groups are volunteer boards charged with the task of raising funds for library branches to purchase books, equipment, and furnishing.
A Jackson Hinds Library System policy prevented the volunteer board from forming. Therefore, these concerned citizens launched this Initiative to create an independent library system which will empower disadvantaged children by developing their intellect through diverse library reading programs, activities, and services.
