  1. Join this very important discussion on a new book: James Meredith: Warrior and the America that created him.

This title has been classified as a textbook and is becoming emerging as a Popular Culture/Ethic Studies required reading in the academic arena.

The links to the flyers for my next two (2) book readings and signings. Thank you for sharing these events with people on your email list.

Note worthy points for the discussion in Greenwood:
James Meredith was shot in Hernando, Mississippi on June 6, 1966 while walking up Hwy 51 with a few men encouraging blacks to set aside their fear of the White Power structure and encouraging them to register to vote.
Civil Right leaders resume the walk while Meredith was in the hospital recovering from his wounds.
The Black Power movement (which ended the Civil Rights era) was launched in Greenwood, Mississippi during the Meredith March Against Fear in June of 1966.
During a mass meeting (3,000) in Greenwood, Mississippi at a park on June 16, 1966, SNCC Chairman, Stokely Carmichael exhorted marchers by demanding, “What do we want?” and then leading the response, “black power.” Chapter 8 Fruits of Change pg 105
Special invitations has been extended to Greenwood H.S. history classes, Leflore County High School students, MVSU faculty, staff, and students, local elected officials.
